Time to drop the Hammer on West Ham United in Eddie Howe's 600th match in charge of a pro club.
[got blasted for paying €40M+](https://cominghomenewcastle.sbnation.com/2023/1/31/23578480/anthony-gordons-transfer-q-a-with-royal-blue-mersey) in exchange for the services of a young 21-year-old bright player in Anthony Gordon last week. - I have sorted all Premier League defenders by minutes played this season, then I have taken the top-4 from each team, then I have added all of their minutes. The result: Newcastle’s four most-used defenders have played 6,648 minutes, the most in the Premier League entering the weekend. Anthony Gordon won’t start this game (read the first note), so it’s going to be Joelinton sliding down to the midfield with Allan Saint-Maximin getting the nod at the left wing. It’s been more than three months (10 games) without a goal from Wilson while only contributed one assist in that span. West Ham defeated [Everton](https://royalbluemersey.sbnation.com) easily in their last Premier League game. - Isak was not going to start anyway, but after suffering a concussion last Tuesday his chances went from slim to thin to entirely nullified. For the newcomers: Eddie Howe is most definitely not going to force anyone into the lineup from the get-go because he never does that, so rest assured you won’t start watching Gordon/Ashby rack up bulky minutes well into March. Derby County got kicked off the [FA Cup](http://www.sbnation.com/fa-cup) by WHUFC last Monday. - If you’re a fan of Anthony Gordon or Harrison Ashby, you might be surprised not to find any of them in the image above or in our predicted lineup below. [West Ham](https://bracethehammer.sbnation.com/) will be fielding a team full of old, very well-known faces on Saturday. The former club is sitting in ninth place, the other one in sixth.
Newcastle will be looking to carry their Carabao Cup success into the Premier League when they host West Ham this evening. The Magpies are flying high ...
They’ve scored 11 goals in their last four league visits to the Magpies, as many as they had in their previous 14 at St. - Newcastle have kept a league-high 12 Premier League clean sheets this season, their most in a single top-flight campaign since 2011-12 (15). The Scotsman’s next victory in the competition will be his 250th – having won none of his first eight away games against Newcastle in the Premier League (D3 L5), he’s won four of his last seven at St. However, they’re winless in their last eight on the road (D2 L6), since a 1-0 win at Aston Villa in August. - Newcastle have been behind for just 80 minutes in the Premier League this season, fewer than any other side. - West Ham won this exact fixture 4-2 last season, last winning consecutive away league games against Newcastle in October 1998. Get up to £40 in free bets on selected events. - Only Kevin De Bruyne (63) has created more chances than Newcastle’s Kieran Trippier (59) in the Premier League this season. £20) on selected events at odds of 2.00+, in 7 days. - Newcastle’s Callum Wilson has scored nine goals in 11 Premier League appearances against West Ham, more than he has versus any other side. The good thing for Bruno is he’ll be available for the final.” But certainly the timing is really difficult.
Eddie Howe will miss key man Bruno Guimaraes as he begins his three-match ban following his red during the Carabao Cup semi-final win over Southampton on ...
We hope that he’s fine – he’s certainly not 100 per cent and we wouldn’t be thinking or expecting him to be – but having him around is a big boost and he’s an important player for us. We need to bring him on and hopefully get him back as quick as we can. We’re not quite 100 per cent sure on him yet. Moyes said: “Gianluca is not available, Kurt Zouma is not available, Maxi Cornet is not available for Saturday. Moyes said: “Maxi has gone back to France again – he’s not quite ready yet to step up to training levels. He’s doing work in the gym, he’s exercising – look, he’s not feeling his calf muscle any more and is feeling much better, but if you’re asking is he back at 100 per cent yet?

West Ham United head north to take on Carabao Cup finalists Newcastle United at St James' Park this Saturday and Mark Lawrenson has issued his prediction ...
Lawro predicts Leicester City, also level on points with West Ham but 14th in the table due to goal difference, to play out a 1-1 draw at Aston Villa. A draw would be enough to keep West Ham out of the relegation zone if Lawrenson’s predictions for the other Premier League fixtures this weekend come to fruition. “I’m sure they would have celebrated, you have to celebrate reaching a first cup final for ages!
Chris Sutton has tried to predict the outcome of Newcastle's game against West Ham this weekend.
We’ve seen it with them a few times this season already when things aren’t perfect with their performance, but they still get the job done.” Newcastle have lost just once all season, and it’s hard to think this game will end in anything other than a win for the Magpies. The Magpies and the Hammers will both have been targeting a top-half finish this season, but their seasons haven’t quite gone to the script.

The oil-rich Magpies are aiming to go a club-record 16th Premier League games unbeaten as they welcome the beleaguered Hammers to St James' Park this ...
West Ham are on 19 points from 21 games, one point above the relegation zone. Newcastle dominated the second half but could find no way through West Ham's defence as they drew for the fourth time in five Premier League matches to extend their unbeaten league run to 16. Newcastle made a dream start at St James Park but were pegged back and then held back as West Ham earned a deserved point this evening.
Newcastle United can become the third Premier League team this season to cross the 40-point marker when it meets West Ham on Saturday at St. James' Park.
A season ago, Manchester City conceded just 26 goals in 38 games (0.68 per game). Arsenal (50 points) were handed just their second defeat of the season on Saturday, beaten 1-0 away to Everton as Sean Dyche made his debut as Toffees manager. Chelsea has some work to do while surprising Fulham, Brentford and Brighton are hanging around on the periphery with fine campaigns. The home fans are loving the start of the Sean Dyche era. Incredible play by Amadou Onana to surge down the left and he crosses for Dominic Calvert-Lewin who is sliding in and two yards out. A high cross to the back post finds Bukayo Saka and he brilliantly volleys the ball towards the bottom corner but Conor Coady gets back on the line to clear. Lovely corner from Saka to pick him out but the shot was a tough one to keep down. What an unexpected victory to blow the title race and relegation scrap wide open. 11, while Everton have a huge Merseyside derby at Liverpool on Monday, Feb. Arsenal host Brentford on Saturday, Feb. This is even more valuable considering the tackles, blocks, and interceptions you also get from elite attacking midfielder. Newcastle is just a different team without Guimaraes, as Sean Longstaff’s role changes and Joelinton has to chop back into midfield.

A let off for the Hammers though. But yes, I think you’re on the right lines. West Ham seemed to stop though and Willock fired home emphatically, but the ball was clearly over the line and it's a goal kick. West Ham take the goal kick for the first disallowed goal but the ball breaks to Longstaff who plays Wilson in behind. Schar is in and tries to dink it over Fabianski but it's just over the bar. They work the ball up to the Newcastle box and after some scrappy play, Paqueta's effort is deflected wide and they have a corner. He picks the ball up and tries to play in Antonio but the forward can't find anyone in the box and Pope collects. They've since had the better of the chances and the hosts will need to improve in front of a subdued St James' Park. That's the first time in a while Almiron and Trippier have got in though and it's better signs for Newcastle. The ball comes out to Saint-Maximin on the follow-up and he drives his volley low, but Coufal makes a great block just in front of Fabianski. The forward is in, but Aguerd, who started a few metres behind, sprints back and puts in a sensational block as he bears down on goal and the ball is deflected from a corner. Newcastle win a free-kick and Aguerd is booked for booting the ball away.

That was a golden opportunity to put West Ham into the lead just before the break. But his cross goes to nobody in particular, and it’s an easy clearance for the West Ham defence. We'd have liked to have come here and won, but we were up against a team in really good form." It’s almost impossible to do that after the first five minutes - we were electric and the crowd were in the game. "We deserve a lot of credit for coming here and putting on such a good performance. "It's only a point but we take it. It's the kind of game they live for. Newcastle are back on Sky Sports when Eddie Howe returns to former side Bournemouth next Saturday; kick-off 5.30pm. I don’t think we were bad in the first half - we just didn’t keep up that momentum. "That first minute was expected by how Newcastle have been starting games so we've only got ourselves to blame. They then visit Tottenham live on Sky Sports on Sunday February 19; kick-off 4.30pm. You can't do that - he's a quality player - so I wanted our midfield to press higher. "We responded absolutely fantastically. "It was a tight game," said Howe.
