'In my favour'- Blackburn Rovers' Tyrhys Dolan looking to stay ahead (Lancashire Telegraph)

Dolan is targeting a fourth successive league start for only the second time this season tonight. While the 21-year-old has featured in 32 of Rovers' 39 games ...

“I need to get that done and be one of the main players in the team. “I've played a few games and I want to build on that. I need to be a regular source of goals and assists and I want to carry this on. “It feels like I have said for a few seasons I want a run of consistent start, I want to do this, I want to do this. “I think that feeling makes you learn so much that you don’t want to be feeling like that come the end of the season. “You can see the manager has rotated but for me it’s about staying in the team and doing that stuff off the pitch is key to keep my sharpness and not fatigued for when the games come.”

Blackburn Rovers moved up to fourth in the Championship table after Tyrhys Dolan's goal secured a 1-0 win over Blackpool. Jon Dahl Tomasson's side recorded ...

Had a great chance to shoot and score but chose to pass. N/A On as a half-time change and can feel hard done to not to start in the first place. It was a really good finish for Dolan's fifth of the season, struck first time into the roof of the net. Looked like a man with a point to prove and he didn't let the game pass him by. Got the assists for the opener and played some nice crosses into the box. Makes the game look really easy, at times, and should run with the ball more as he has the ability to beat men. Full of energy and running in the centre of the park. Won his headers and duels well in the first half but wasn't caused too many issues. Forced off at the break with a hamstring injury. Played a huge role in the opening goal with a lovely cross-field switch. Jon Dahl Tomasson's side recorded back-to-back wins for the first time since October thanks to a first-half strike from the in-form Dolan.

It is a fabulous goal by them, we'd be saying the same, but I can see how it came about. It was a great goal from them, but I can see the points that have cost us. "Tyrhys is in a good place at the moment, he's doing really well and he's performing at a high level. This is the most disappointing of all of them (games)." The visitors were unsurprisingly happy to sit back and challenge their hosts to break them down. It was perfect to see.

Blackburn Rovers into the top six after victory over Blackpool (Lancashire Telegraph)

A fine goal from Tyrhys Dolan just after the half hour mark won it, with Rovers missing the chance to make it more comfortable with some wastefulness infront of ...

Rovers retreated as Dom Thompson got forward from left back to deliver a low cross that wasn’t cleared, but scuffed wide by Bowler. But he was called for at half time as Daniel Ayala limped off with a hamstring issue. That was the clearest opening for the visitors and a warning to Rovers that the game was far from secure. It is the same problem that is keeping out Bradley Dack, Ben Brereton and Harry Pickering as Rovers count the cost of a busy run of games. It meant that much of the early exchanges were being played in the Rovers defensive third, with the challenge being set to try and break through the banks of Tangerine. However, one was enough, and means it is now 11 victories in 16 Ewood games, and only one defeat in 11 in all competitions that keeps them in the hunt for a top six finish.

Callum Brittain opens up on mental health challenges during ... (Accrington Observer)

The defender opened up on his journey back to full fitness after making his first start for over two months against Blackpool.

"At the end of the day, we are a team that wants to do well. "Left-back in a four is something I am not used to but I enjoyed it. "It was a different experience and really nice to be back out there. "I am really happy for him," Brittain said. "It's really three and a half months of not playing. We get the World Cup break and then after two minutes, it was my knee. As a footballer, you don't get Christmas so the physios let me go home and I spent it with my family. "I've done well when I've played so to get injured three times, I'd never done my knee before. The 24-year-old need a few weeks to digest the prognosis. You have to take a week or two and get your head around it. What makes him different is his openness to talk about the difficulty of processing that injury and how it impacted his mental health. 74 days of hard work in the gym with the physios, unable to do his job.

Rankin-Costello sums up what Blackburn Rovers must be to win ... (Accrington Observer)

Analysis from Ewood Park as Blackburn Rovers beat Blackpool 1-0 to move fourth in the Championship table.

He was pretty faultless and played a big role in the goal, dipping away from his marker to break Blackpool's press. The top-six race might well come down to goal difference and so improving their conversion rate is crucial. He's an embodiment of the mentality and resilience Rovers need to show to get into the play-offs. Their upcoming matches, on paper, and this is the Championship, are not horrific either. Blackpool are a poor side and look destined to go down. Injuries opened the door for a surprise return and he has not looked back since. On the opposite flank, Callum Brittain made his first start since a knee injury on December 10. Playing in a hybrid role of right-back out of possession but centre midfield when Rovers have it, he has shone. [Rovers ](https://www.lancs.live/all-about/blackburn-rovers-fc)could and should have put the game to bed earlier. The defence restricted Blackpool to very little and they ran out deserved winners. [Tyrhys Dolan's first-half strike was enough to secure back-to-back wins](https://www.lancs.live/sport/football/football-news/blackburn-rovers-player-ratings-blackpool-26297320) for the first time since October. We probably sound like a broken record but Rankin-Costello's rise to stardom in this team is remarkable.

'Not good enough' - Mick McCarthy's damning Blackpool verdict and ... (Accrington Observer)

Mick McCarthy graciously admitted Blackburn Rovers' winning goal was 'quality' but left Ewood Park disappointed with Blackpool's performance.

We got the ball down a bit second half and passed it and we were a bit better than the first-half performance. And when we did get any opportunities to play we didn't show enough quality, and that's let us down." He added: "We've got to play better than that. McCarthy was frustrated with a lack of quality from his relegation-battling side and felt they were not brave enough. "The goal we gave away, it's a fabulous goal by them by the way but it's disappointing the way we gave that goal away." "We've got to do better, we've got to have more quality and when we do win the ball back we've got to do more with it.
