The municipality says in a statement the SMART meters are not prepaid water meters and will not disconnect consumers' water supply. Ultrasonic SMART water meters will be installed by replacing the existing meter and at the same time will provide an opportunity for various issues to be addressed by plumbing teams as they do the installations. The George Municipality will install new smart ultrasonic water meters throughout the city over the next three to four years.
