Marquez out of Argentina MotoGP round after hand surgery - The ... (The Race)

Six-time MotoGP champion Marc Marquez will be sidelined for the Argentina MotoGP round, having required surgery after his Portimao crash.

Marquez joins the likes of Enea Bastianini and Pol Espargaro on the sidelines, his two MotoGP peers having suffered injuries earlier in the weekend. It also means that he will have more time to concentrate on making a full recovery for the next round of the championship after Termas de Rio Hondo at Texas’ Circuit of the Americas, a favoured track of Marquez’s where he enjoys an almost-unbeaten record. Going under the knife right away after the Portimao crash, he had two screws fitted to the first metacarpal of his right hand in a surgery that his team says went well – but will force him to “miss the next round of the world championship to fully focus on recovery and arrive at the forthcoming rounds in the best possible condition”.

Miguel Oliveira to skip Argentina MotoGP round after Marc Marquez ... (The Race)

RNF Aprilia's Miguel Oliveira has become the fourth MotoGP rider confirmed as skipping the Argentina round, after being hit by Marc Marquez.

None of the four are expected to be replaced for this coming weekend. The news that Oliveira will miss the race will add further fuel to the fire stoked by the fact that Marquez has essentially escaped serving his punishment for the contact, after The Race first revealed that the specific wording of the double long lap penalty he was handed means that it only applies to the Argentine Grand Prix and is not set to transfer to the first race in which he’ll be able to ride again after his recovery. That was confirmed when he underwent further medical examination on Monday morning but, such was the severity of the contusions he received to his right leg in the impact, his team confirmed later that evening that he will rest up and recover for the United States Grand Prix in three weeks’ time rather than travelling to Argentina with the rest of his team.

Argentina - Memory, coups... and intellectuals (Pressenza, International Press Agency)

It was 47 years since the bloodthirsty coup d'état in Argentina, which left more than 30000 people missing and which few intellectuals confronted. Let's.

They are valuable, important freedoms that must be completed with another cycle, that of the justice that is lacking in the country, of which obviously very little is said, and much less is seen. What a pity that everything is always like this, always in the same way! To elucidate why this violence from below failed, and why the incredible and perhaps now unsurpassable cruelty of Argentina’s military repression. It is worth remembering the previous governments of all these years, where at times it could be thought that somehow it was the first step, a stepping stone to improve the situation. The passage of time has shown that this step is not a step upwards, it is a step downwards. It was with and because of the people’s struggle. Likewise, Ernesto Sábato wrote in Clarín on 5 July 1980: “In Argentina, the vast majority of its writers, painters, musicians, scientists and thinkers are in the country, and they work. Today there is a tendency to focus on the recovery of democratic freedoms. Social democracy insists on placing the focus on the recovery of democratic freedoms. However, there are two, whom I consider very great, who are not as calm as you are: I am referring to Rodolfo Walsh and Haroldo Conti, who were kidnapped several years ago by patrols of the official repression and have never been heard from again. On the other side, the impure ones spilled out, those who believe that in literature or in life only a part of the self is not compromised: Julio Cortázar, David Viñas, Daniel Moyano, Antonio Di Benedetto, Haroldo Conti. It has been 47 years since the bloody coup d’état in Argentina, which left more than 30,000 people disappeared and which few intellectuals confronted.
