Tennis | Miami Open 2023 | Rybakina and Pegula look to reach ... (Britwatch Sports)

Elena Rybakina and Jessica Pegula are looking to reach the Miami Open quarter-finals while Karen Khachanov faces Jiri Lehecka in round three.

Pegula knows that winning the title in Miami will legitimise her hopes of winning a Grand Slam in the near future as she continues to be come a reliable threat to [Iga Swiatek ](http://www.tennisabstract.com/cgi-bin/wplayer.cgi?p=IgaSwiatek)at the top of the WTA rankings. Lehecka has shown his quality this season having beaten [Cameron Norrie](http://www.tennisabstract.com/cgi-bin/player.cgi?p=CameronNorrie), [Felix Auger-Aliassime ](http://www.tennisabstract.com/cgi-bin/player.cgi?p=FelixAugerAliassime)and [Andrey Rublev ](http://www.tennisabstract.com/cgi-bin/player.cgi?p=AndreyRublev)already this season with the lefty serve continuing to do damage this season. [Magda Linette](http://www.tennisabstract.com/cgi-bin/wplayer.cgi?p=MagdaLinette). Meanwhile the American will look to play on the counter-attack and use depth and variety to catch Linette off guard. [Jiri Lehecka ](http://www.tennisabstract.com/cgi-bin/player.cgi?p=JiriLehecka)with the Czech Republican breaking new ground this season. Khachanov will look to defend Lehecka’s attacking play with the backhand and then transition his attacking play onto the forehand. The third seed survived a tough second set against [Danielle Collins ](http://www.tennisabstract.com/cgi-bin/wplayer.cgi?p=DanielleCollins)to reach the fourth round and will be hoping to avoid the same fate as Indian Wells. However the form that he has shown since then has been a theme of his career as he has failed to be consistent and show he can be a reliable top ten player. [Elise Mertens ](http://www.tennisabstract.com/cgi-bin/wplayer.cgi?p=EliseMertens)with the Belgian having an impressive tournament so far. The world number 39 has once again shown how consistent she can be having beaten the likes of [Daria Kasatkina ](http://www.tennisabstract.com/cgi-bin/wplayer.cgi?p=DariaKasatkina)and [Petra Martic ](http://www.tennisabstract.com/cgi-bin/wplayer.cgi?p=PetraMartic)in Miami. Rybakina will look to show more consistency on serve than she did against Badosa against the consistent and powerful returning of Mertens. This match proved that although Rybakina has weaknesses in her game, the Kazakh has the confidence and belief to turn the match around as she continues to maintain a winning mentality.

There were quite a few rain delays at the Miami Open on Tuesday, which made it hard to dive into the matchups for Wednesday, March 29th.

On the flip side, Alcaraz is playing at the highest level of his career, and this version of the Spaniard is one of the best players to ever play the sport. And he just looks a little sluggish from the baseline. And truth be told, we haven’t seen that from the American in quite a bit. And Rune wasn’t very effective with his first serve either, as he won just 60.0% of his first serve points — he’s winning 73.1% of those on the season. With that out of the way, keep reading for the tennis pick for Wednesday!
