Lamborghini combines a high-revving V-12 engine with three electric motors to create the 1001-hp 2024 Revuelto plug-in hybrid.
The Revuelto is unlike other Lambos in that much of its interface is digital. [Murcielago](https://www.caranddriver.com/lamborghini/murcielago) with the hips of a [Diablo](https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/a15139938/2001-lamborghini-diablo-vt-60-road-test-review/). We haven't tested a Revuelto yet, but Lamborghini claims it can reach 62 mph in just 2.5 seconds and reach a top speed in excess of 217 mph. There are four rotors on the steering wheel that control drive modes, and additional buttons activate the turn signals as well as initiate the launch control. The scissor doors and wedge shape come from the [Countach](https://www.caranddriver.com/lamborghini/countach). That's also the most horsepower from any plug-in hybrid, knocking the 986-hp

The new steering wheel design is inspired by the interaction with the steering wheel of a Squadra Corse race car, providing the feeling of a pilot. The pinnacle of dynamism and power output, in terms of both performance and sound, is reached in Corsa, the driving mode designed to highlight the Revuelto’s dynamic capabilities on the track. In addition, the two NACA ducts located in front of the rear wheels collect flow from the underbody and direct it to the rear brake cooling duct. This capability is also enhanced by the increased stiffness of the anti-roll bars (+11% at the front and +50% at the rear), and by the reduced steering ratio (-10% compared to the Aventador Ultimae): an approach already successfully tested on the Huracán STO The car features an unprecedented layout: a 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12 mid-engine, three electric motors, two of which are located on the front e-axle and one integrated into the new 8-speed dual-clutch transmission, arranged for the first time behind the combustion engine and transversely to the V12. The air intake ducts to the cylinders have been re-engineered to increase the supply of air and guarantee optimal airflow in the combustion chamber. With the Revuelto, Lamborghini launches a new Space Race, ushering in a design language that adapts to the challenges imposed by electrification, and presaging the shapes and proportions of super sports cars of the near future. Located above the gearbox, this electric motor doubles as the starter motor and generator, as well as supplying energy to the front electric motors via the battery in the transmission tunnel. Revuelto introduces the “swipe” function in a Lamborghini, allowing the pilot and co-pilot to move applications and information from the central display to the side displays with the same intuitive, gestural ease as using a smartphone. “Revuelto takes a significant step forward in terms of reactivity and responsiveness to ensure the most emotive and natural driving in every environment. It is a unique and innovative car but at the same time faithful to our DNA: the V12 is an iconic symbol of our super sports heritage and history. The new Revuelto combines these attributes to deliver performance figures at the peak of its segment: acceleration from 0-100 km/h in only 2.5 seconds and a top speed of more than 350 km/h.
Closing out a half century of purely gasoline-powered V12 cars going back to the brand's earliest models, Luxury Italian sports car designer Lamborghini has ...
The plug-in replacement for Lamborghini’s other, less expensive supercar, the V10 powered Huracán, will be revealed later. In the Revuelto, the engine points towards the back to make room for battery packs. Two more electric motors power each of the car’s front wheels, providing all-wheel-drive. Front-wheel-drive low-speed cruising will be fully electric, while high-powered aggressive track driving will employ all available power from the V12 engine and the electric motors. From there, engine power was rerouted through spinning driveshafts to the back wheels or, in many newer models, to all four wheels. The car, whose price is as yet undisclosed, will offer driving sensations ranging from loud and viciously punchy to smooth and silent.
Lamborghini has a new plug-in hybrid hypercar called the Revuelto, and it looks amazing from any angle.

New model marks first steps into hybrid world for Bolognese Raging Bull.
As per its Aventador forerunner, the Revuelto is also equipped with a four-wheel steer system that enhances agility and manoeuvrability through tight turns. When braking, the e-axle and rear electric motor contribute to deceleration, reducing stress on the brakes while recharging the battery. The rest of the bodywork — apart from the doors and bumpers — is also fabricated from carbon fibre. Lamborghini’s head of design, Mitja Borkert, was tasked with creating a bodyshell that would not only be visually striking, but also meet the stringent aero requirements for a car that can blast to 350kph and beyond. Just as the drivetrain is state-of-the-art, so too is the rest of the Revuelto’s recipe as it’s built around an aviation-inspired carbon-fibre mono fuselage that’s ultralight and rigid. That said, Lamborghini refers to it as an HPEV (high-performance electrified vehicle), so the emphasis remains on scorching acceleration rather than pandering to enviro-warriors.

First units of the Revuelto are scheduled to reach their lucky owners before the end of 2024. According to Lamborghini it is 10% lighter than the Aventador's and offers 25% more torsional rigidity. Permanently on display for all too admire — there's no engine cover here — the Revuelto's newly developed naturally aspirated V12 weighs a useful 17kg less than the one used in the outgoing Aventador and can be revved all the way up to 9,500rpm. While one of these is integrated into the Italian firm's tasty new double-clutch eight-speed transmission, the other two are mounted directly to the front axle, meaning that the Revuelto benefits from all-wheel drive. Mounted amidships, the Revuelto pairs a transverse 6.5l V12 engine with a trio of electric motors. Leaked hours before its official Wednesday unveiling, the Revuelto is the first Lamborghini supercar to feature plug-in hybrid technology with an advanced powertrain that delivers almighty performance.

The list of other Lambos named after fighting bulls is long, and includes models like the Islero, the Espada, the Jarama, the Gallardo and the Urus. The first Lamborghini model to receive a bull-inspired name was the Miura back in 1966, named for a particularly ferocious and large breed of bulls which was, in turn, named for the surname of their breeder, Antonio Miura. Finally, the 1990 Lamborghini Diablo's namesake was a bull that survived for hours in an epic bullfight in Madrid in 1869. The Lamborghini Murcielago, meanwhile, was named after a bull from the late 1800s that allegedly survived 24 jabs from a matador and fought so valiantly its life was spared. Revuelto was named for his 'unruly' nature and was considered something of a revolution in the sport back in his heyday. The Aventador was named after a bull that fought in Spain's 'Plaza de toros de Zaragoza' in 1993, and was presented with an award for 'outstanding courage'.

This means that the front frame is 20 per cent lighter than that of the Aventador. It is inspired by the aviation industry and is made up of carbon fibre. There is a front splitter that helps in increasing the weight on the front end. The structure is 10 per cent lighter and 25 per cent stiffer when compared to Aventador's chassis. There is no traditional reverse gear so it is handled by the electric motors in the front. The interior of the Revuelto is also new.

Lamborghini's new 1001bhp V12 flagship, and first ever plug-in hybrid, has been revealed in full.
It’s also easier to access, with some of the sill mass moving to the door and the B-pillar situated in such a way as to create a larger opening. There are further deliberate nods to Countach, [Diablo](https://www.evo.co.uk/lamborghini/murcielago/13440/a-z-supercars-lamborghini-diablo) and in the overall shape and scissor doors but the Revuelto very much has its own personality. ‘I understood this is a signature of Lamborghini and I need to use it in a very bold way. The V12 is entirely exposed in the centre of the Revuelto’s coverless rear deck. Apart from creating headroom, the valley shape of the roof directs airflow to the rear wing and fixed bargeboards behind the front wheelarches tidy up the airflow along the car’s flanks. In Strada, Sport and Corsa, it’s possible to select any of the three powertrain modes (Recharge, Hybrid and Performance). Lamborghini has worked hard to create consistency in feel, and the firm feeling after the pedal’s initial travel to remain consistent. The new hybrid powertrain can operate in three main modes; Recharge (in which the engine charges the battery), Hybrid and Performance. Lamborghini chief technical officer Rouven Mohr says its position ensures both best protection for the pack in the event of an impact and the best solution for weight distribution (Lamborghini quotes 44:56 front to rear.) The engine is considered the lightest and most powerful Lamborghini production V12 yet at 218kg (17kg less than the Aventador’s engine) and generates 814bhp at 9250rpm. Lamborghini is particularly excited about the torque-vectoring capability they enable, with the motors all but eliminating the need for the use of brakes for vectoring except in the most extreme situations. Meet the Lamborghini Revuelto, the latest in the marque’s line of supercars that began with the Miura, and its first ever plug-in hybrid.
