Arsenal 4 - 1 Leeds United FC - Match Report (Arsenal.com)

Gabriel Jesus scored his first two goals since coming back from injury to help us to a comfortable win.

Despite only joining the club in January, Leandro Trossard has the joint-second highest number of Premier League assists for us this season (7). And then on 55 minutes, Jesus doubled his tally for the afternoon. After our sluggish start to the first 45, we made amends after the restart and quickly wrapped up the points with two further goals. He first fooled his way past Kristensen and then bamboozled Ayling before he was tripped by our former academy product. Darren England pointed to the spot, allowing the Brazillian to coolly tuck the ball down the middle from 12 yards to end his long wait for a goal. Just like Bournemouth did last month, they nearly caught us cold straight from the kick-off, and Aaron Ramsdale was forced into his first save after just eight seconds when he pushed away a Kristensen strike.

It was part of the context of the game and we used it in the right way. It was an issue that we had with some of the international players and players we had here but it happens. The crowd transmits energy and belief and love to the players and unconditional support. They need to feel that confidence, and the players have to prepare in the right way when they have the chance, like Rob did, and to actually perform. We have players now who need a little bit of space and freedom and those interactions I think contribute to the team and make the opponent more conscious and worried about those rotations. He’s really contributing to the team and he really takes a lot of responsibility in games to make things happen and we love that. Even on set pieces, he’s improved a lot to be more dangerous and to drive more attention to the opponent. We are really pleased with him, he can play on the right, he can play on the left, he can play as an attacking midfielder, as a nine, a false nine. He had some issues as well in the last few days but he’s a big fighter and he wanted to be here. We improved that a lot, we exploited all of the spaces and we changed a little bit the shape and position of a few players, and we were more fluid attacking in the final third very close to the box with good numbers and good positions. Obviously the way that they set up, they were really man-marking our attacking midfielders and they played with four really fast players to cut us in transition. Today he deserved the chance to start and he grabbed the opportunity with a lot of conviction and scoring two very important goals.

City have a much busier fixture schedule compared to the Gunners due to their Champions League and FA Cup involvement, whilst Arteta's side only have the Premier League to focus on. Despite not being a priority signing in January, Arteta could not be happier with the Belgian's arrival at Arsenal as he continues to help them chase down a first Premier League title in nearly 20 years. Arsenal's Gabriel Jesus ends drought in easy win vs. Leeds (ESPN)

Gabriel Jesus' brace ended the longest goal drought of his career to add a further sense of momentum to Arsenal's Premier League title charge.

I didn't want to complain before the game and I do not want to complain now. We will do it in the next game and I think maybe a better result. Leeds boss Javi Gracia to the BBC on the club's battle against relegation: "I have the players that I have [fit]. [Brenden Aaronson](https://www.espn.com/soccer/player/_/id/259653/Brenden-Aaronson), Leeds: Largely anonymous up front before being replaced on 65 minutes. Saka was introduced on the hour mark for Jesus and had the rare luxury of going through the motions as the home side ran out easy winners. [Granit Xhaka](http://www.espn.com/soccer/player/_/id/149981/Granit-Xhaka) added a late fourth from [Martin Odegaard](http://www.espn.com/soccer/player/_/id/203669/martin-odegaard)'s angled pass into the box to ensure the league's top two sides ended the day as they started. [easing to a 4-1 win](/soccer/report?gameId=638108) -- contributed to a flat start in which, a Jesus headed chance aside, Leeds were the better team. The Gunners looked as though they may have missed his spark in a slow start but it is another nod to Arsenal's shrewd January business that Trossard replaced Saka to play an influential role in putting this game beyond Leeds. It was something of a gamble given the 21-year-old's fine form this season but he missed training on Friday through illness and Arteta deemed him not fit enough to include from the outset. His second goal was a smart finish, meeting Trossard's cross to put the game beyond Leeds. This was largely a stress-free afternoon for the Gunners, even after Kristensen's 76th-minute effort, and Arsenal can tick another game off with nine remaining in their title run-in.

Preview: Arsenal Women v Manchester City | Match preview | News (Arsenal.com)

Following Champions League success in the week, our Gunners have a huge WSL clash against Manchester City.

Little, on the other hand, is more of a doubt for the fixture as the medical team continues to assess her injury. Our spectacular win in the Champions League on Wednesday did take a toll on our squad, as captain Kim Little was forced off after only ten minutes and Katie McCabe was substituted following a collision. As our opponents proved in the away leg, it will be no mean feat to keep them at bay. We travelled up to Manchester for a WSL meeting only a few days later and this time, City had the upper hand. Man City’s win over Chelsea last weekend had huge ramifications for a league table that has been in constant flux for months, as our game-in-hand over City and Manchester United looms. As we enter the final two months of the WSL 22/23 season, every goal, save and performance is vital to keep our title dreams alive.

However, when the ref said to me I was going off, I was a little bit disappointed because I want to play, but of course I respect the manager and the other players as well. Reflecting on his time out, he added: “I love challenges. “The most important thing is always the three points. That’s the best way to take penalties. “It was so good playing again, starting again and feeling the atmosphere of the crowd,” he said post-match. “I want to score and I practise [penalties],” he said.

He grabbed the opportunity with a lot of conviction and with two goals." The supporters come all together, and the way they support me is massive. He’s been working so hard for the last for or five months with a lot of support from the team and the staff. The clash was Jesus' first in the starting line-up since his serious injury last year, where he sustained damage to his knee at the World Cup that required surgery. The 4-1 victory saw the Brazilian score a brace as he was joined by [Ben White](https://www.football.london/arsenal-fc/news/granit-xhaka-arsenal-leeds-win-26614275) and [Granit Xhak](https://www.football.london/arsenal-fc/news/granit-xhaka-arsenal-leeds-win-26614275)a on the scoresheet, cancelling out Rasmus Kristensen's effort for the Yorkshire outfit.

Gabriel Jesus has the spellbinding quality that keeps everyone ... (The Guardian)

When Gabriel Jesus was injured, Arsenal kept winning but the Brazil striker is fit again and has rejoined the team seamlessly.

The point is that by some kind of freakish telepathy, Jesus has continued to influence this Arsenal team despite not kicking a ball for months. Somehow – and again, no pun intended – Arsenal can feel the presence of Jesus, even when he is not physically present. The only way of surviving this ride will be to suspend all disbelief until the very end. Occasionally it would be Eddie Nketiah holding the ball up and doing a fine Jesus impression. In order to answer this question, it’s worth looking not just at Jesus but the players around him. Very occasionally during this deeply weird season there have been sudden moments of piercing clarity when Arsenal fans wonder to themselves: how is this thing happening?

Arsenal v Manchester City: Women's Super League – live (The Guardian)

If fixture congestion is to play a part in the outcome of the title, then City have the advantage. The big news is that Katie McCabe starts at left-back for Arsenal after being on crutches and in a protective boot on Wednesday night but her foot injury was only a bruise. They need a win to draw level on points with league leaders Manchester United, who won their match on Saturday 4-0 at Brighton. Arsenal are not exactly fresh from their Champions League victory over Bayern Munich, with Kim Little and Katie McCabe likely to be joining the long-term injury list. Gareth Taylor’s team play Arsenal on Sunday after the Gunners’ gruelling midweek defeat of Bayern Munich that earned their place in the semi-finals. Jonas Eidevall on Katie McCabe’s recovery and Kim Little’s injury: “Katie made a very quick recovery. And having the – let us say – combative Katie McCabe back is a bonus. Still, this is no occasion to worry about the weather. Of course, there are doubts about whether Blackstenius will actually score on any given occasion, but usually others will step up, and sometimes Foord or Maanum will have a stunner of a game. This is toughgoing for the home team. Charles Antaki writes in: “No Kim Little, and of course, no Miedema or Mead; enough to give any Arsenal fan the collywobbles. Maanum, scorer of such a great goal v Bayern, tries a shot but this one is way off, catching the wind to fly miles behind.

Ben White will never change! Arsenal defender explains why he ... (Goal.com)

Ben White has never hidden the fact that he is not the biggest football fan, with the Arsenal star opting not to watch Manchester City vs Liverpool.

He added: “There's a lot of noise going on outside, and everyone is just keeping it very quiet and just getting on with what we are doing. White’s family were not really into football during his childhood, despite his obvious talent, and the 25-year-old continues to fill his spare time steering clear of live action – even when rivals for the English top-flight crown are in action.
