[Summer McIntosh](https://olympics.com/en/athletes/summer-mcintosh) is unstoppable at the moment. The latest mark is subject to ratification by World Aquatics. "I've been hoping to get a world record, especially in the 400 IM, since I was probably 11 years old," McIntosh said afterwards. McIntosh becomes the first person - female or male - to hold world records in both the 400 IM and 400 free (long-course metres). [Ohashi Yui](https://olympics.com/en/athletes/yui-ohashi) of Japan (4:30.82 in 2018), [Mireia Belmonte](https://olympics.com/en/athletes/mireia-belmonte) of Spain (4:31.21 in 2013), and Australia's [Kaylee McKeown](https://olympics.com/en/athletes/kaylee-mckeown) (4:31.74 in 2022). The Canadian [swimmer](https://olympics.com/en/sports/swimming/) claimed her second world record in five days on Saturday (1 April), taking nearly half a second off [Katinka Hosszu](https://olympics.com/en/athletes/katinka-hosszu)'s seven-year-old 400m individual medley record at the 2023 Canadian Swimming Trials.

Toronto teen adds a third junior world record to the two senior marks she set this week.

“Once you get to the world stage and really big meets like that, it’s just about getting your hand on the wall first. And it’s all just preparation for what’s still to come, starting this summer at the world championships. “Definitely the hardest part is trying to fall asleep,” she said. With every record, they’ve hauled out a special lift and sent someone in safety gear into the building’s rafters to update the numbers on the board that reads: “Welcome to Canada’s Fastest Pool.” After her last race Sunday night, McIntosh finally confessed to being “super exhausted” and looking forward to spending time relaxing at home in Toronto. “I know how much it means to those kids up there,” she said about handing off medals for winning the 200-metre freestyle in another world junior record time.
